Our Commitment

St. Joseph’s Parish Malvern holds the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young and vulnerable people as a fundamental responsibility of the Church. This commitment is drawn from, and inherent to, the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ, with love, justice and the dignity of each human person at the heart of the Gospel. A culture of safety within the Church ensures that children and vulnerable people can actively and fully participate in the life of the Church and realise their potential in a faith community.

This commitment extends to clergy, employees and volunteers within the St Joseph’s parish, regardless of their role or level of responsibility to act to safeguard children and young and vulnerable people from abuse.

We are committed to upholding the safety and dignity of each child and young and vulnerable person and ensuring that they are able to grow and develop in a caring and supportive environment in our Church.

Important message for parish volunteers

In accordance with State and Church guidelines and requirements anyone wishing to serve as a volunteer in our parish community or its ministries must comply with all induction requirements of the parish which will involve reference and screening checks (including Working With Children and Police checks, as required) and must sign a volunteer agreement as well as an annual commitment to safeguarding. Volunteers must also participate in all training programs implemented by the parish.
