The award that JoCare received at the recent Award ceremony held by Stonnington Council was an acknowledgement of the generosity of St Joseph’s parish in support of JoCare.
It is also recognition of the gift of time that a number of parishioners have given on a weekly or fortnightly basis visiting those who otherwise may have little company during the week. Some volunteers have been visiting for over three years. JoCare is also fulfilling the initial vision of involving people within the local community both as volunteers and ‘neighbours’.
Loneliness is now on the political agenda – the United Kingdom has a Minister for Loneliness. Congratulations, this award belongs to the parish for a vision that has become a prophecy. Thank you to everyone who has supported JoCare and congratulations to you all.
