Plenary Council 2020 News

  • It begins in October 2020 in Adelaide. 14 months away.
  • The second session will be held in May 2021 in Sydney.
  • It’s been in preparation since 2018.
  • 34 local churches – dioceses etc. – from round Australia are attending.
  • The Listening and Dialogue phase has concluded. 220,000 people were involved.
  • The 6 National Themes for Discernment arose out of the Listening and Dialogue phase. They are:
    1. Missionary and Evangelising
    2.  Inclusive, participatory and synodal
    3. Prayerful and Eucharistic
    4. Humble healing and merciful
    5. A joyful, hope-filled and servant community
    6. Open to conversion, renewal and reform.
  • There will be a Discernment and Writing Group for each theme. They will write the working papers that will be the foundation for the agenda of the first session in October 2020.
  • Applications for the Discernment and Writing Group and for their Chair closed on July 22.
  • In September applications will open for anyone wanting to be a delegate. You can apply. Check the website.
